My (Insincere) Apologies

Dear Parents of kids who were at the Marriot’s Fairfield Inn at Anaheim, CA on December 1st through the 3rd, 2015:

I am so sorry (not really) that my daughter and I jumped at the chance to score a Disney themed hotel room!  At the past ripened age of fifty eight, I’m reclaiming my childhood.  My thirty year old daughter is also young at heart.  I know.  Sigh.  Excuses, right?

But we just had to have the Toy Story room, okay?  That’s all there is to it.  I enjoyed having Woody on the wall, smiling in his silly way.  Buzz Lightyear adorned the wallpaper border and the little aliens were watching over us all the time.  Maybe we didn’t go to infinity and beyond, but we went to Disneyland and had a Disney room to sleep in.  Neener neener neener, kiddos!

Jana and I loved our Toy Story room.  At least we didn’t take the princess room away from all the aspiring Elsas.   Mothers would have been singing, “Let It Go” as their little girls cried in utter heartbreak.  And we didn’t take any of the other few remaining themed rooms either.  I think we were pretty darned nice about the whole thing.

The Disney themed Toy Story room was a winner.  This comes from me who rarely had a fashionable toy when I was little.  There was no Mickey Mouse stuffed animal to hug, no Colorforms, though I did have a few Disneykins that my friend’s grandmother gave me.  So I am reverting back.  It’s never too late to go back and embrace that inner child.  Mine was smiling the whole time.  Thank you Jana for the room, the trip, and for re-introducing the magic and enchantment of all things Disney!

Sorry (not sorry) dear loving parents who didn’t get that room for their little ones.

Insincerely,

Old Kid
