Summer may be here for another week, but it’s a fall day in Oregon. The skies are gray, apples lay scattered on our lawn, and leaves are turning much earlier than normal. In my hand I hold my favorite Starbucks® drink – a salted caramel latte without the mocha. Yummm.
I savor the sweetness, and as I do, I let the evilness of today roll off my shoulders. Something as benign as a pin on Pinterest drew out some nastiness today from some warped person. The pin was a gif of a kitten playing whack-a-mole with someone’s finger. It was adorable! It made me smile to see the intent, quizzical look on the kitten’s face as it went after the finger.
So when I saw that I had a couple comments from someone, I was thinking they probably would write something similar about the cuteness factor. Wrong. I was stunned to see the comments lined up to read: “Fucking idiot” “I wish I could choke you”.
Allrighty then, isn’t that special? What makes someone so warped to stoop to such craziness? Not that this is my first encounter with mean people. I’ve dealt with them on Twitter. I suppose I should have reported her, but instead I deleted the pin entirely.
So now I’m going to just let it go because even if it’s left a bad taste in my mouth, it’s not worth dwelling on any longer. People will continue to do stupid things. I just hope the wrong person isn’t on the receiving end of something that vindictive. After all, Pinterest can be an escape for those who are in pain or depressed. Crazy comments like that might feel like a knife wound instead of a glancing blow. Mean people really do suck.
