She graced us with her presence today, coming right up to the railing of our condo deck. I could see the nuances of brown, tan, yellow and gold in her short bristly hair. Like an overgrown dog, this beautiful doe beseeched us with alluring brown eyes, looking for a handout. My brother in law pitched her some strawberries and hand fed her a banana. He gently and quickly patted the top of her forehead and it was an even trade: food for a touch of this gentle yet wild creature.
The doe’s “baby” is in the trees on the right.
She didn’t fail to steal my heart. I felt very lucky getting to watch her along with her youngster and the other deer who were in the area. The buck lounged the whole time the females and two juveniles wandered the resort golf course. When he finally arose and set his body into the motion of a proud strut, the small herd slowly gathered together and sauntered off.
The doe who came to visit us came running from across the golf course. She was the only one who unabashedly approached us. What a sweet gift indeed to have had this chance visit on such a beautiful, warm springlike day.
Thank you Mrs. Doe A. Deer 😀
