How about a Hawaiian Beach Wedding with the beautiful tones of a conch beckoning the bride down the sandy shoreline aisle? I was lucky to attend my first ever beach wedding on Saturday. Locale: Makena Beach, Maui. Requirements: sunshine and surf. Operation: A huge success.
Makena Beach
My niece was beautiful in her resplendent white dress, looking like a pearl of the ocean as she held the arm of her father, walking forward to meet her groom. Beach activity continued all around us – lovers on a blanket exchanging kisses as the bride and groom spoke their promises to one another. Dogs and swimmers and surfers tumbled in the waves nearby, but I never noticed until pictures were shown. We were focused on the couple only. All were present for them on this beach that seemed private during those special minutes. No one else mattered. Only the rumbling surf covered a few words. Yet we could see the love in the couples’ eyes for one another. We knew what was in their hearts.
As pictures were taken after the ceremony, the air felt so fresh. Maui beauty beheld on this beach, on this day, at this time. We were honored to be there for Mitch and Angela. Forever, we will remember the splendor of this beach and the occasion. In the end, family and friends are what it’s really all about. That my daughter and her husband and my son and his girlfriend could be there too with my husband and I made it very memorable. It was a treasure trove day.
