Subtitle: Lead, Follow or Get Out of the Way
Which role fits you and why?
Oh I’m so definitely a “get out of the way” person these days, or at least that’s what my good intention is. And we all know what highway is paved with good intentions, but I’m still a work in progress. It takes me many repeated attempts of sticking my nose in the same beehive before I learn the hard way. Therefore, I do my best to “get out of the way” or keep my mouth shut. That’s what I need to do to keep this migraine brain from going bonkers.
I’m of a different political party than a good number of relatives. Rather than listen to the free flowing opinions and feel my head do a slow boil, I simply walk away without fanfare. It’s called survival.
My husband would probably laugh if he heard me say I “get out of the way”. Things do get under my skin and maybe I do perseverate sometimes on the little breakdowns in justice and etiquette. Yet I truly believe I’ve gotten better at not having to get in the mix of things when they’re happening. I do speak up when necessary, and I will never let anyone take advantage of me. But with that said, passivity has its merits in this migraneur’s life.
