Migraine Awareness Month #10

Subtitle:  Name That Spokesperson
Choose any celebrity to represent Migraine (whether they have Migraine or not)  Who would it be and why?

At first I was going to pick Ellen Degeneres because she’s funny but also passionate about military families, animals and people in need, and I adore her.  But then I realized I’d want my spokesperson to have personal experience with Migraine Disease.  I’d want them to speak from the core of that migraine tornado that can throw life into a tailspin.

Google to the rescue!  Today’s blog challenge became a fun homework assignment for me.  Sure enough, I found “celebrity faces of migraine”.  I was surprised to see stars I never would have guessed who suffer from this disease.  And I had to choose one?  It would be awesome to have all of the migraine- afflicted celebrities appear on a panel on The Oprah Winfrey Network, hosted by Dr. Oz.But yeah, that’s just a big ‘ol dream (yesterday’s blog challenge).

So, out of the faces who are Janet Jackson, Whoopi Goldberg, Lisa Kudrow, Serena Williams, Troy Aikman, Kristin Chenoweth and Marcia Cross to name a few, I chose Ben Affleck.  He was hospitalized for a severe migraine for three days in 2006. In 2010, he had to withdraw from The World Series of Poker Ante Up For Africa tournament due to another migraine requiring hospitalization.

Ben Affleck: very handsome man and actor; husband of endearing actress, Jennifer Garner; loving and involved father to two daughters and one son; supporter for the A – T Children’s Project; and impassioned spokesperson for the protection of civilians in the Congo. Ben has appeared before Congress to advocate for children suffering from Ataxia Telangiectasia (A – T) as well as a House subcommittee to speak out about the atrocities in Congo. Ben has much experience as a public speaker.

Therefore, I am waving across cyberspace in my own impassioned plea to Mr. Ben Affleck to step up and speak out for all of us who suffer Migraine Disease!
