There are lots of myths and misconceptions about Migraines. Which one tops your list as the biggest and most common? What can we do to get the truth out there?
How to choose just one? That’s the million dollar question. There are way too many misconceptions out there about Migraine, often perpetuated by doctors. But since I must pick the cream of the crop of myths, mine is that people don’t think I’m doing enough to eradicate migraines from my existence.
These well meaning people would have had me traveling all over the country to have my forehead lifted or check for a hole in my heart. We’ve all heard that dagger of a statement: “If it were me, I’d want to try everything!” If only they knew, most of us have tried just about everything.
Unfortunately, there’s a “new cure” being touted almost everyday. And friends or family love to quote their favorite articles or TV shows as if whatever new product or therapy is the golden cure-all. More often than not, these “cures” are no better than snake oil.
So until there’s been a proven cure and it’s been approved by medical professionals who truly are vested in Migraine Disease, I’m not buying it!
